Brooke Cowden, Clinical Social Work Intern

Brooke is starting to take new clients in September.

My name is Brooke, and I am a Master of Social Work Intern at Colorado State University. I have a bachelor’s degree in international studies and have worked in different behavioral health and nonprofit settings. My background includes care coordination with individuals experiencing treatment-resistant depression and anxiety, street-based outreach, harm reduction and training in Trauma-Informed Care.

I believe in cultivating safety, trust, collaboration, and connection. I consider it a privilege to accompany clients through the complex and often messy experience of being human. I’m drawn to working with youth and adults, particularly those navigating grief, loss, change, and life transitions, including the duality of suffering and hope. I strive to help clients recognize and foster their inherent strengths and resilience while exploring interconnected relationships and systems.

I continue to build a clinical foundation rooted in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I value authentic communication and the unique ways that people make meaning in their lives. I also appreciate the utility of art, music, games and writing as ways to help convey thoughts, emotions, and stories.

I accept HSA/HRA/FSA, out-of-network and in-network insurance coverage with Optum/United/UMR, Anthem/BCBS, Aetna, and Cigna. I also accept private-pay and offer sliding scale for those that qualify. Please reach out to our office if you have any questions about session payment.
